Director of Youth Ministries

Joel Jones

Hunter Price was born in Charleston, SC in 1985 and grew up in Summerville, South Carolina with his mother (Deborah), his brother (Will), and eventually his step-father (Jack Rose). He finished high school at Summerville High School in 2004.

During his high school career, Hunter experienced the love of Christ for the first time at the Summerville Church of Christ and soon after became a follower of Christ himself.

Having received such a life changing impact from his youth ministry experience in high school, Hunter decided to enter into youth ministry himself. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia International University after three and a half years, majoring in Bible and Youth Ministry with a minor in Outdoor Educational Leadership.

While at CIU, he also volunteered at both Mt. Horeb and Trinity UMC, and completed two internships: one at First Presbyterian Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi and another with the Crecer Foundation in Boma, Dominican Republic.

After months of searching for the right place to begin his youth ministry career, Hunter finally found a church home here at Ashland UMC, where he hopes to lead students closer to Christ, so that they may live lives devoted to loving God, loving others, and loving themselves. Hunter is very excited to be able to be a part of this congregation.

Hunter married Beth Fricker on June 5th 2010. Beth is from Jacksonville, Florida and is a CIU graduate as well. She works as a preschool teacher here in Columbia. Hunter currently serves here at Ashland as the Director of Youth Ministries. He works with our adult volunteers and student leaders to ensure that our youth program stays true to it's vision statement: Love God. Love Others. Love Self.

In addition to hanging out with students, Hunter enjoys backpacking, comic books, the musical stylings of The Avett Brothers, his Netflix account, cooking with his wife, and BubbleTea.
