Ashland's Pastor

Joel is a native of South Carolina, (preacher's kid) married to the former Donna Davis of Columbia. They have 2 adult children, Krista and Tyler.

Graduating from the University of South Carolina in 1977 with a B. S. in Health and Physical Education, Joel graduated from the Lutheran Seminary in Columbia, with a Masters of Divinity in 1982.

Having served churches throughout the state of South Carolina, Joel came to Ashland in June, 2001, after eight years as pastor of Pisgah United Methodist Church, Florence.

His hobbies are being a parent, canoeing, gardening, and walking and wearing his arm out playing Disc Golf.

He also serves on the Conference Committee on Nominations, the Conference Board of Camps and Retreats, Vice Chairperson of Sharing God's Love in Irmo, District Committee on Ordained Ministry, and mentor to persons entering the ordained ministry.
