Ashland United Methodist Church salutes Robert Neese
for his outstanding contributions to our music ministry. Robert
has been the Church Organist at Ashland since 2001. He is a native
of Columbia and is married to the former
Sharon Hulett. Robert is the father of two children and has three
grandchildren.
Robert received his Bachelor of Music in Music Theory from the University
of South Carolina in 1975 and his Master of Church Music in organ
performance in 1978 from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He has served
Baptist, Episcopal, and Methodist congregations over his thirty-year
career.
In addition to being the cofounder and conductor of the Arpad Darazs
Singers, Robert teaches piano, organ and music theory with Carolina
Music Academy.
Robert credits his mother for instilling his love of music. He began
formal piano lessons with her when he was nine years old. During
his student days at USC, Robert sang all four years in the USC Concert
Choir.
Thank you, Robert, for using your musical gifts to create a spirit
of worship in our services.
