Shepherd Center

What is It?
Shepherd's Center is an organization for mentally alert, young at heart senior citizens who want to be challenged by participating in creative and intellectual activities and becoming part of neighborhood outreach programs.

Founded in Kansas City in 1972, The Shepherd's Center concept is based on the message of Psalm 23. The basic premise is that older persons can help themselves and others to live richer lives, grounded in their own religious heritage.

The Shepherd's Center is an interfaith organization which provides an opportunity for older adults to form a serving, sharing and growing community.

Shepherd's Center is housed at Ashland United Methodist Church, located at
2600 Ashland Road, adjacent to Seven Oaks Elementary School, between Bush
River and St. Andrews Road.

Shepherd's Center offers --Adventures in Learning classes, taught by knowledgeable volunteer
instructors,

--Noon lunches with guest speakers/entertainers
--Sessions to work on and share techniques of painting or needlework
--Periodic resources such as flu shots, blood pressure checks, exercise, 55 Alive courses, tax assistance.
